Reflections of Youth

Making the Most of Allah’s Gifts
By Jehad Nassar, Argo Community High School

Salam, my name is Jehad Nassar. I am 16 years old and a sophomore in high school. I was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of 4, but alhamdulillah Allah (SWT) has given me the strength to not let that get in my way of being a good Muslim as well as doing the things that I love to do. I may not be able to do the same things as my friends, but I don’t let anything stop me or get in my way. I am the manager of the basketball team at Argo Community High School because I love basketball, as well as a school radio broadcaster. I hope to one day become a famous radio broadcaster for the Sports industry. The way I think of my life is that the sky is the limit and nothing should stop anyone from doing something just because Allah (SWT) took something away from them like walking. Being a Muslim doesn’t mean you have to walk, it means that we should follow his teachings in perfecting ourselves as the people of Muhammad (SAS). I would like to thank the Mosque Foundation for making me the person that I am today. I met a lot of great Muslims and inshallah I hope to make a difference in the community. I would also like to thank my mom for everything that she has done for me, and I hope that Allah grants her the highest level of heaven because of her dedication to the mosque. This community has changed me, and I hope to continue to perfect my iman and stay a strong member of the community.
