IFS Students Volunteer in Pantry
Islamic Foundation School Students Volunteer in Food Pantry
By Tahura Ahmed, Islamic Foundation School
IFS held its annual High School Service Day on March 20, 2013. Students were divided into groups and taken to various places such as Food Pantries, Domestic Violence Shelters, Forest Preserves, Disabled Children’s Schools, etc., to volunteer. Our group volunteered at the Mosque Foundation Community Food Pantry.
Alhamdulilah we enjoyed our time volunteering at the Mosque Foundation Food Pantry greatly. We realize that opportunities like these are what keep us motivated to be grateful for everything we have as we all too often consider everything forsaken. It’s remarkable how hunger and poverty are issues that literally hit so close to home. Often we consider these only problems of the Middle East and Africa. InshaAllah more people will be aware of this issue and actively fight for the cause. By working with organizations like the Mosque Foundation, we can truly experience the essence of our Deen and its focus on aiding all of humanity. As the best of creation (sallAllahu ‘Alayhi wa sallam) so eloquently stated, “All creation are the dependents of Allah, and the most beloved creation to Allah is the one who is good to His dependents.”
